About the Photographer

Buck Layton’s evocative panoramas are filled with wonder and stir the emotions, and his work can be found in both corporate and private collections here in the U.S.
Buck came out of the mountains of Colorado and located to the Pacific Northwest 25 years ago with his family and has traveled and photographed throughout Oregon, California, Utah, Wyoming and Montana. His giclée prints capture the light, textures and forms of the landscapes he explores and they look more like paintings than they do photographs. Canvas giclée landscapes have become the choice for many collectors and they are truly beautiful in either full gallery or mirror wraps on stretcher bars.
Both discipline and patience play a great part in the work Buck accomplishes. It takes discipline to get up at 4 am to get to the best viewpoint and sometimes it takes waiting 17 hours for the light to be “right” and then have less than 70 seconds to capture the image! Buck has invested several decades perfecting his craft, he continues to use film, and is equally skilled as a fine-art printmaker so that his works truly express his own heart responses and experiences for others to enjoy and appreciate, especially on canvas.
Buck has had a foundation based on scouting in his youth, an electrical engineering career, training in classical music, and has gone on many backpacking trips throughout Ohio, the Appalachians’ and northern New Mexico. His parents were a great source of encouragement and love as he developed; they also shared many adventures as their family traveled each summer throughout the U.S.
When asked to define art he replied, "it has been said that art is the result of those who fully live their lives with joy and thankfulness for all that God has created… it's the stuff that's left from those who seriously considers what is worthwhile."
